Carrot Cake Muffins for Dogs
These muffins for dogs are an adorable treat your dog can enjoy for Easter.
Muffin Ingredients:
½ Cup Pumpkin Puree
½ Cup Sugar Free All-Natural Applesauce
½ Cup Vegetable Oil
1 Large Egg
¼ Cup Shredded Carrot
1 Cup All Purpose or Whole Wheat Flour
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
Topping Ingredients:
1-2 Tablespoons Creamy Peanut Butter (only ingredient is peanuts, does not have xylitol or sugars)
1 Tablespoon Shredded Carrot
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350° F. Fill a muffin pan with paper liners or lightly spray with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, applesauce, vegetable oil, egg and shredded carrot. Mix until fully combined.
In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the mixing bowl and stir until batter is formed.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared muffin tins and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are lightly toasted.
Allow muffins to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Once the muffins have fully cooled, they will be ready for the toppings.
Spoon peanut butter into a sandwich bag and seal it at the top. Cut the corner closest to the peanut butter and squeeze peanut butter out of the corner onto the tops of each of the muffins. We made paw print designs but you can choose if you want to spiral the peanut butter on or make other fun shapes for Easter.
Sprinkle some shredded carrot on each muffin to make this treat look festive and cute for Easter.
Store the treats in the refrigerator for 1 week or in the freezer for up to 2 months.
