Christmas Tree Dog Treats
These decorated Christmas Trees are the perfect holiday treat for you dog. They are made with peas, coconut oil, and cranberries, which each have great health benefits for your dog.
Christmas Tree Ingredients:
½ Cup Frozen Peas (thawed)
¼ Cup of Creamy Peanut Butter (only ingredient is peanuts, does not have xylitol or sugars)
1 Large Egg
1 Tablespoon Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Unrefined
1 ½ - 2 Cups of Oat Flour (or Rolled Oats)
Topping Ingredients:
¼ Cup Dried Cranberries or Craisins (low sugar or no sugar added)
1 Cup Greek Yogurt – Nonfat, Plain, No Xylitol, and free of any added sweetener
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350° F and place silicone tree baking mold on a cookie sheet.
If you are using rolled oats, pour 2 cups of rolled oats into the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a small bowl and set aside. If you already have oat flour, pour 2 cups of oat flour into a bowl and set aside.
Next, puree the peas until smooth and pour into a medium mixing bowl.
Add the peanut butter and egg to the medium mixing bowl with the peas and stir until well blended.
Melt the coconut oil in the microwave, then add it to the medium mixing bowl with the other wet ingredients.
Add the oat flour to the medium mixing bowl and stir until fully combined.
Press the dough into the silicone molds and bake on the cookie sheet for 20-25 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool in the silicone mold for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Once the trees have fully cooled, you can begin decorating them. Spoon the yogurt into a small sandwich bag and cut one corner of the bag. Pipe the yogurt onto the trees, then add dried cranberries as the ornaments for decorations.
Enjoy! Refrigerate the treats for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
