Outdoor Shopping

  • Farmer’s Market: These often have fresh flowers, produce and handmade goods to enjoy. Some local farmer’s markets will have homemade dog treats or bandanas. This is a great opportunity for your pomsky to socialize with new people, while you are supporting your local businesses.

  • Pet Store: You can also take your dog to the pet store and find a cute spring collar, harness, bandana or leash to celebrate the season.

  • Outlet Mall: Visit an outlet mall and find some new spring outfits and accessories. First check online to see which stores are dog friendly and bring your spouse or friend so you can take turns going into stores and waiting outside of stores with your pomsky as needed. Outdoor shopping malls offer many opportunities for your pomsky to socialize with new people, and your pomsky will likely receive many compliments.

Picnic

Pack a meal for yourself and some treats and toys for your dog, then head to a park or beach for a picnic. Picnics give you time to enjoy the spring fresh air and bond with your pomsky dog. Make sure you have toys to keep your pomsky entertained such as a puzzle toy, nylon bone, and ball for playing fetch. Remember to also pack your dog’s travel water bowl and some food.

Play with Other Dogs

Go to your local dog park or plan a doggie play date with friends, family or neighbors that have a dog. Your pomsky will be able to play with dogs they haven’t seen recently, and you can catch up with their owners. In the winter months dogs might not have as many opportunities to socialize, so this experience has many benefits for your dog’s social, mental and physical health.

Pop Bubbles or Play Frisbee

Blow some dog friendly bubbles outside and encourage your pomsky to jump or run to pop them. Bubbles take play time to the next level and many dogs are curious and excited to see bubbles floating, then disappearing once they are popped.

You can also play throw a frisbee for your dog to retrieve and bring back to you. Playing frisbee with your dog can help increase their focus because they need to keep their eye on the frisbee and anticipate which direction it will fly. Playing frisbee is also great physical exercise for your dog, because they are often required to sprint, and it can increase their coordination with watching the frisbee while running and getting ready to catch it. Be mindful of where you are playing frisbee, and avoid any obstacles such as trees or benches that your dog could potentially run into while they are looking up at the frisbee.

Spring Photoshoot

Find cute spring scenery such as a park bench, in front of the water, or some pretty trees or flowers for your pomsky to pose in front of. Take many photos of your pomsky dog and provide small treats often. Your dog will love the attention, treats and fresh air with this experience. If you have a friend or family member with, you could have them take photos of you with your pomsky too.

Go Hiking

Find a local park or trail to go for a hike with your dog. Hiking provides physical and mental stimulation for your dog because they are able to explore new areas and smell unfamiliar scents. They might be very excited at first to smell every bush and tree in sight, but will likely calm down and match your pace once they find their rhythm. When hiking with your dog, make sure you have taken precautions to prevent Fleas and Ticks and always check your dog after you have completed your hike. Hiking provides more intense physical exercise than your dog typically receives and will require them to stay focused with the changing terrain. Be sure to bring your dog’s travel water bottle and waste bags on your hiking adventure.

Watch Birds at the Bird Feeder

Fill up a bird feeder and place it in front of a window where your dog will have a good view of it. Your pomsky will get excited to see birds and squirrels visit the feeder throughout the day. This is an easy way to keep your pomsky entertained while staying inside.

Go on Longer Walks

Extend your daily walks to go longer distances or go a different direction to explore new areas. Spring weather provides a great opportunity for you and your pomsky to exercise together and see different parts of your neighborhood or city.
