Purchase Price

Pomskies from a high quality breeder typically cost between $2000 to $5500 based on the dog’s markings, eye color, coat type and other factors. Many breeders will require you to pay an initial non-refundable deposit to join a waitlist, then pay for your pomsky in full once you receive them.

One time price for purchase of a pomsky: ~$4000

Annual Veterinarian Expenses

Pomskies will need to go to the veterinarian a few times in the first year to monitor development, receive vaccines, and get spayed or neutered. After the first year, your pomsky will likely only need to visit the veterinarian for annual health checkups and to receive their annual vaccinations.

Always check with your vet first, but the most common annual vaccines that dogs should receive include:

  • DAP Vaccination

  • Lyme/Lepto Vaccination

  • Rabies Vaccination

  • Bordatella Vaccination

Additionally, dogs need parasiticides to prevent heart worm and intestinal diseases and they will need flea/tick medications.

The cost of annual veterinarian expenses will vary based on location and what services you choose to have. For example, some owners may opt in to get their pomsky microchipped, and this would be an additional cost. The total cost below includes the price of a full year of parasite prevention medications and annual vaccines and wellness checks.

Total annual veterinarian expenses: $620

Toys

Pomskies are very playful and energetic dogs. They will need many toys to keep them engaged. Some owners prefer to sign up for a dog subscription box which includes new toys and treats each month. Other owners may prefer to hand pick each toy at the store, since they know what their pomsky likes the best. Pomskies will benefit from a variety of toy types with different textures.

Toys that your pomsky will love include:

Toys may need to be switched out each month, or every few months depending on how worn out they are. See our Best Toys for a Pomsky post to find out which toys we recommend for pomskies.

Total annual expense for toys: $270

Training Class

If you would like to have a well-behaved pomsky, you will want to complete the proper training when your pomsky is still a puppy. Dog training classes are often offered at local pet stores or can be completed through online training programs. Training classes vary in price based on how many sessions are included and what will be taught, but they typically teach your pomsky basic commands. Many companies offer puppy classes, beginner classes, intermediate classes, advanced classes, and agility training classes.

Annual expense for training class: $200

Boarding or Daycare

When adopting a pomsky, consider where they will stay when you are on vacation or away from home for a long period of time. The cost of boarding and daycare facilities varies significantly depending on the accommodation options. Some facilities might only have kennels while other boarding centers might have sound proof rooms with plexi glass doors. The price will also vary depending on how often you need to have your pomsky stay there.

Expense for boarding/daycare: Varies significantly

Summary

Pomskies are a great addition to the family, but it is important that you know what to expect. The estimated annual expense for owning a pomsky (not including purchase price or boarding cost) is $1796 based on our estimates. Each individual owner’s cost will vary based on the food they feed their pomsky, the toys they buy, and many other factors. When you are caring for a pomsky it always comes with expenses so make sure the price fits within your lifestyle.
